Accident blocks traffic on S. Main

A minor accident in the 400 block of S. Main St., Tuesday morning, Dec. 30 caused the roadway to be blocked for a short period of time and traffic directed to an alternate route.According to a Hallettsville Police Department report, the accident took place around 10 a.m.

Miss Hallettsville Scholarship Pageant Saturday

The Miss Hallettsville Scholarship Pageant will take place Saturday at the Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Hall.The sparkle and soiree will start at 5 p.m. and the pageant will begin at 6 p.m.Admission at the door is $5 per person and there is no admission for under 13 years of age.

Dense fog leads to Monday a.m. accident

Very foggy conditions resulted in a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 95 and FM 340 early Monday morning.According to a Lavaca County EMS Facebook page, the accident took place approximately half way between Shiner and Moulton.

Local drug dealer takes guilty plea

At Monday’s district court session conducted by Judge William D. Old III in the District Courtroom of the Lavaca County Courthouse, Marcus Harper entered guilty pleas to multiple felony drug-related charges and was immediately sentenced.

The City of Hallettsville wishes to verify the upgrade of city codes regarding the use of golf carts or utility task vehicle (UTV) on city streets.According to city administrator/secretary Grace Ward, the code will become effective April 1, 2026.

Court holds final meeting of the year

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in its final meeting for 2025 and besides approving the addition of a mental health deputy and caseworker as well as accepting a donation from the Dickson Allen Foundation, it voted to maintain the current burn ban status of keeping the ban off.
