Police warn residents of dangerous social media trend

Hallettsville Police shared Shiner Police Department’s warning for local residents about a dangerous social media trend known as the “Orbeez Challenge” or “Senior Assassin,” which has reportedly reached the Lavaca County area and could lead to serious injuries or even fatal consequences.

MISD Election this Saturday

Folks will have an opportunity to vote in the Moulton ISD school board election this Saturday.The general election will be held Saturday, May 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. also at the Community Center.There are currently eight people running for the school board positions.

Above average hurricane season predicted

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as well as other forecasters are predicting an above average Atlantic hurricane season for this year.While NOAA is considered the best for hurricane predictions, it has not released its expectations.

EMT week is coming up soon

EMT week is coming up soon and it’s important to recognize the work that EMT’s do.Michael Furrh is the EMS Chief for Lavaca and Colorado Counties and he’s been in the field for about 22 years.“EMT week comes around and sneaks up on us because we stay pretty busy,” Furrh said.

National Correctional Officers week, May 4 - 10

At Monday’s Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court meeting, the court approved two proclamations with one involving the National Correctional Officers Week from May 4 through May 10, while the other designated May 11-17 as Police Week, that includes May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Hallettsville mayor election Saturday

Hallettsville city voters will go to the polls Saturday to decide who will occupy the mayor’s chair for the next term.In Saturday’s election, incumbent mayor Alice Jo Summers is facing opposition from Gordon G. Clark.

The Hallettsville Tribune Herald office has a brand new drop-box.Those wanting to drop off their subscription and advertising payments can do so after hours now by putting the payments in the drop box. Any news stories that people may have can also put this in the box.

Lights out!

The City of Hallettsville underwent a power outage last Thursday, April 22.The power outage lasted just over two hours and impacted customers including the Hallettsville Tribune Herald Office.
