Enock enters guilty plea for manslaughter

The Yoakum man whose murder trial was awarded a mistrial in 2022 after it was revealed that the lawyer prosecuting him had allowed her law license to expire appeared before State District Judge William D. Old III on Monday to accept a plea deal in the case.

The Shiner City Council received the 2024 racial profiling report from the Shiner Police Department at the Jan. 6 meeting. “We’re required by law to report all of our police contacts with violated traffic stops,” Police Chief Wayne Denson said.

Robert Kabela has been making some strides as he took home the third place title of the 2024 Race of Champions at the USA BMX Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.The nine-year-old placed third out of 25 top riders all across the United States from his age group.

SHS Sophomore Class BBQ Fundraiser January 19

The Shiner High School Sophomore Class is now selling tickets for the annual pork steak fundraiser, to be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Proceeds will go to pay for the prom, senior trip and graduation flowers. Plates include pork steaks, giblet rice, green beans.

Tragedy to Redemption

On a foggy January morning in 2023, a small plane carrying five men from Memphis, Tenn. crashed in Yoakum rocking the Yoakum community and leaving a deep scar on the hearts of many in Memphis. Among those on board were five men: beloved fathers, husbands, and leaders of the faith community.
