MISD reveals STAAR scores

The Moulton Independent School District unveiled its State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR test scores for the 2023- 24 school year at the July 24 meeting. Some construction projects were also approved.

Moulton man arrested on felony warrant

On July 24 at approximately 6:45 a.m. the Moulton Police Department along with the Lavaca County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Antonio Espinoza Balderas of Moulton on a felony warrant for engaging in organized criminal activity.Mr.

Yoakum prepares for cell tower

A new cell tower is being built in the City of Yoakum.The tower will be placed across from Block 2 next to 701 Front Street.This is being built at the behest of AT&T and will also be able to accommodate Verizon and T Mobile.“The company that’s building this is City Switch,” Mayor Carl O’ Neill said.

Traffic stop sends driver to jail

A traffic stop on Monday, July 29, 2024, sends the driver to jail. At approximately 10:57 PM, an HPD officer initiated a traffic stop in the 200 Blk of E Fourth for a traffic violation.

Hallettsville Brahmas school board

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees voted to allow superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Bludau to enter contract negotiations with SZS Architecture out of Bryan for the 2024 Bond Capital Improvement Project at a special called meeting Monday evening.

Shiner Lutheran Church members attend ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans

A small group of members from the Shiner Lutheran Church attended the 2024 ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans.“This is an event that’s held once every three years,” SLC Pastor Chris Heinold said. “Because of Covid, it wasn’t held in 2021.

Three Shiner Stingray Swim players advance to State

Three members of the Shiner Stingrays Swim Team have advanced to State at the Regionals meet in New Braunfels. The competition was the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF). TAAF has 44 swimming teams statewide for their league, including Shiner.
