Harvey Alton Appelt, 85, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, March 1, 2024.  He was born in Lavaca County to Louis Jr. and Josephine (Haas) Appelt on Nov. 3, 1938.Harvey graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1957 and the University of Texas at Austin in 1963.

Oscar Nagelmueller

Oscar Nagelmueller, 75, of Hallettsville, sadly passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.  He was born March 31, 1948, to Wally Bertha (Michaelis) Nagelmueller and Louis Nagelmueller Sr. He lived in Hallettsville and graduated from Sacred Heart High School.

Reynaldo Rivera Sr.

Reynaldo Rivera Sr., 86, of Shiner, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Monday, March 4 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Odartey-Lamptey officiating.

Dennis Ellinghausen

Dennis Ellinghausen passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at the age of 77, after a short battle with cancer. Dennis was born on Oct. 22, 1946, to Helmuth and Sophia Sykora Ellinghausen.

Edwin J. Wagner, 92, of Hallettsville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024. He was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Shiner to Charles and Emilie Kocian Wagner. Ed married Janelle Treptow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville on Sept. 9, 1952. He served in the U.S.

Evelyn Kresta

Evelyn Kresta, 90, of Hallettsville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024.   She was born in Lavaca County on April 14, 1933, to Matus F. and Victoria Mladenka Cada She grew up in Moravia, La Grange, and El Campo. On Oct. 3, 1949, she married Victor E. Kresta in Moravia.

Oren C. "Buddy" Remmers

Oren C. “Buddy” Remmers, 89, of Shiner, died Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Seton Hospital in Kyle, after a lengthy illness. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, February 26 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 27 at United Dr.

Joy Lynn Machacek

SHINER: Joy Lynn Machacek, 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024 with her family at her side. She was born December 11, 1953 in Sinton to the late Harold and Myrtle L. (Bengsch) Koenning. Joy graduated from Shiner High School in 1972.

Matt Christopher Benton

Matt Christopher Benton, age 64, went on to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024.   He was born Sept. 13, 1959 to Vivian Neufeldt and Arthur Lee Benton in Richmond.   He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Timothy Benton.

Ella Mae Bludau

Ella Mae Bludau of Hallettsville passed away on February 11, 2024, at the age of 92, following a long-term battle with Parkinson's Disease.  She was born on the family’s homeplace, on September 7, 1931, to the late Roman F. & Eleanora (Klekar) Rainosek.
