Shiner baseball: Werner wins Newcomer to lead Shiner 9 All-District

The 2024 regional-quartefinalists Comanches baseball team had several players win 29-2A All-District awards. Shiner had one superlative awards as freshman Bode Werner was chosen as Newcomer of the Year.

Post season awards from the Texas Girls Coaches Association have been coming in for the Lady Brahmas and their coach.Four Lady Brahmas were named All State and coach Callie Kresta the Coach of the Year for Classes 1A-2A-3A. Kresta has fashioned a 140- 23 ledger in her five years in Hallettsville.

The Hallettsville 8U Little League All Stars fell to New Braunfels, 8-4, in La Vernia Saturday in a game that decided the Eastern Zone championship Saturday.NB had held a 4-2 lead before distancing themselves with a fourrun third inning.The locals were out-hit 11-7.

YOAKUM — Shiner 8-year-old softball team grabbed the early lead but could not hang on to it.The Shiner played Hallettsville in their third game of the Special East Zone Tournament June 4 in Yoakum, coming up short 8-3.
