Lady Bulldogs win against Columbus in Yoakum

The Lady Bulldogs won against the Columbus Lady Cardinals at home and fell to Hallettsville on the road last week. YOAKUM 43, COLUMBUS 40 Jayana Phillips made 14 points and Madison Gonzales netted 10 points as the Lady Bulldogs won against Columbus 43-40 at home Jan. 23.

Lundy qualifies for regional

Hallettsville Lady Brahmas swimmer Lauren Lundy qualified for regional as a result of her performances at the District 14-4A meet Friday, Jan. 19 at the Northside ISD. Lundy, who was named the Female Athlete of the Meet, won both the 50-yd freestyle (26.

Brahmas fade in final minute

Just three days after Hallettsville had upset Rice consolidated, the Brahmas did an about-face in losing to rival Yoakum here Friday night, 45-43. The Brahmas frittered away a three-point lead in the final 1:04 of the fourth quarter with turnovers the main culprit.

2 more district wins for Indians

The Sacred Heart Indians took no prisoners in a 76-31 victory over cedar Park Summit Friday night in a TAPPS District 5, Division IV game. Nic Angerstein scored a game-high 18 points and Sam Bludau and Klayton Chance were also in double figures with 11 and 13 points respectively.

LB extend win streak to 12

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas' win streak extended to 12 games at the expense of the Yoakum Lady bulldogs in a 53-28 victory here Friday night. Adalyn Pohl tied a career-high with 22 points as Hallettsville advanced to 28-5 overall and 10-1 in league play.

Shiner girls basketball: Shiner girls escape Bloomington 49-34

Addy Siegel hit three triples and scored a season-high 20 points as Shiner pulled away from Bloomington 49-34 Jan. 23 in Bloomington for the season sweep. Morgan Lenehan also scored in double digits with 14 points and completed her double double with 16 rebounds.

St. Paul boys basketball: Cards go 1-3 in four games in five days

The St. Paul boys basketball team had a very busy week with three scheduled games and one rescheduled game from the previous week. St. Paul hosted Cedar Park Summit on Jan. 22, traveled to Austin San Juan Diego then hosted Pflugerville Concordia on Thursday after the game on Jan.

Shiner boys basketball: Comanches deliver BHS’s first district loss

The Shiner Comanches ended Bloomington’s undefeated run in district with a 45-44 win in overtime after trailing by several points late in the fourth quarter. Shiner was down 39-32 with a minute left in the game.
