Shiner girls basketball: Lenehan scores 19 to lead Shiner to win at Schulenburg

Morgan Lenehan hit a pair of triples and tallied 19 points to lead the Shiner girls to a 51-14 win at Schulenburg on Friday. Shiner led 18-0 after the first quarter and posted 22-2 halftime lead.

Shiner boys basketball: Shiner Comanches dominate Bulldogs 72-38

The Shiner Comanches won the inside battle with Flatonia and that helped Shiner win big 72-38 on Jan. 30. “We rebounded a lot better than our last game against them. Their bigs ate us up in the previous game,” Comanches head coach Jeff Akin said. “Tonight, our bigs won the battle.

Shiner girls basketball: District Champs: LC hold off FHS 71-65 for title

The Shiner Lady Comanches captured the district title outright after a fourth-quarter rally against Flatonia, 71-65 Jan. 30. “The only one who could catch us would be Flatonia and we beat them twice now,” Shiner head coach Kristi Peterson said.

Moulton boys basketball: Katz hand Waelder 18-point defeat in front of packed house

The Moulton boys basketball team and all of their fans worked together to take on rival Waelder on Friday. Trent Meisetschleager handed in 14 points, and Seth Lopez and Landon Chaloupka each recorded 11 points as the Katz rolled to a 50-32 win.

Moulton girls basketball: Kittens play their style in rout of Waelder

With the playoffs on the horizon, the Moulton Kittens look to play their style of basketball to end district. The Kittens pounded rival Waelder Lady Wildcats 55-10 behind 14 points by Audrey Swinford and another 11 points by Addison Simper.

Five Bulldogs named to All-Area Football Team

Yoakum High School football players were recently named to the 2023 Victoria Advocate All-Area Football Team. TyJuan Garza (line) was named and Qyion Williams (secondary) was chosen for the First Team Defense.

Bulldogs win against two teams

The Yoakum High Schhol Boys Basketball Team outscored the Brahmas 27-23 in the second half to take a 45-43 win. The Brahmas led 8-6 after one quarter and 20- 18 at halftime after both teams recorded 12 points in the second quarter.
