Shiner baseball: Shorthorns edge Comanches 3-2

The Schulenburg Shorthorns were sound defensively and pitching, and made a couple of more plays at the plate.The ‘Horns broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth inning and held on for a 3-2 win over the Comanches Friday night at Green-Dickson Park.

Brahma golfers 3rd in Flatonia

FLATONIA – Brahma golfers finished third in the Flatonia Tournament Monday, March 2 with a 332 and finished behind Bellville and Cuero.Ty Sklar was fifth medalist with an 80. Eli Ferguson carded an 83, Liam Ferguson 84, Colt Zavesky 85 and Canyon Zavesky 88.

Indians win one game in strong VISD Tourney

The Indians won one game in the Victoria ISD Tournament.The Indians defeated Yoakum 8-3 Thursday.Layne Sevcik came within a couple of pitches in pitching a complete game. Sevcik struck out 11, walked one and gave up five hits and two runs in 6.2 innings.

Final two games of Appelt Tourney cancelled because of lightning

The Jimmy Appelt Tournament was cut short by lightning Saturday while the Brahmas were playing Giddings.The Brahmas defeated Giddings 9-3.Games cancelled were Shiner vs. Smithville and Hallettsville vs. Smithville.Ty Sklar made his first varsity game on the mound in the victory over Giddings.
