Shiner baseball: Comanches beat WHS 7-3

The Shiner Comanches, with a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third, scored four runs to pull away from Weimar and won 7-3. Drew Wenske and Landyn Pohler each had one home run, and Ryan Peterson and Bryce Nerada got a double.

Shiner softball: Shiner wins at 3A Marion

Addy Siegel got four hits, two doubles, brought in two runs and scored three to lead Shiner to a 14-4 win over Marion April 18 in Marion as the Lady Comanches began preparing for the upcoming playoffs.

St. Paul baseball: Cards see off BC in first round

St. Paul produced a solid performance in their bi-district game over Baytown Christian on Monday. Cardinals head coach Charlie Mieschen said St. Paul did a good job of taking care business and would like to correct a few miscues before the next playoff game which is set for the end of this week.

Shiner golf:Shiner girls advance to state

The Shiner Lady Comanches golf team created some school history as they finished in second place at regionals April 17-18 in Corpus Christi and will be attending the state golf tournament for the first time in school history as a team.

Yoakum track and field: Lady Bulldogs win third at track area meet

The Yoakum track team competed at the area meet April 19 in Seguin, qualifying 13 athletes to this week’s regional meet in Seguin. Girls The Lady Bulldogs scored 73 points to take third. 400 — 1st, Jayana Phillips, 59.80. 800 — 4th, Samantha Adamek, 2:29.94. 1600 — 6th, Gisela Martinez, 5:58.81.

Moulton softball: Kittens rally to edge Runge 14-13

The Moulton Kittens scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to erase a small 10-9 deficit and go on to edge Runge 14-13 in a non-district game in Runge on Monday. The Kittens led 5-2 after the first frame and Runge outscored them 5-0 in the second inning to get ahead 7-5.

Youth sports: Youth volleyball teams place third in weekend tournament

Sweet Digs Club Volleyball 12U placed third in the Season Finale 12U American tournament this past Saturday in Seguin. Shiner Sweet Digs Club Volleyball 13U placed third in the FSC #5 tournment this past  Saturday in Seguin.
