Shiner boys basketball: Bloomington holds off Shiner in 76-70 barn-burner game

After combining for 59 first-half points, Shiner and Bloomington one upped themselves with 87 total points in the second half.At the end of the line, it was the Wildcats who came out ahead 76-70 Friday at Shiner High School in the district finale for Shiner.

St. Paul track and field: Cerny gets unexpected chance to compete in college T&F

St. Paul senior track athlete Kristin Cerny did not feel she had a shot at competing in college.That changed last fall when the Texas Lutheran University track and field program in nearby Seguin came calling, interested in having her on their team.Cerny signed her letter of intent on Feb. 9.

YHS Bulldogs receive awards for state championship

Indians fourth in SJ Tourney

VICTORIA – The Indian golf team finished fourth in the St. Joseph Invitational Monday at the Victoria Country Club.The Indians shot a team total of 439 with Bryce Chovanetz firing a 96.Cole Taylor shot a 109, Brennan Ralston 114, Weston Trobi 120 and Tyler Tumis 136.

Lady Cardinals win district title

SHINER – Sacred Heart had a chance to tie for the District 5 Division IV title.The St. Paul Lady Cardinals (20-7, 6-0), however, took a 36-15 victory over the Indianettes Thursday night.The Indianettes finished district 4-2 and will host Waco Bishop Reicher Friday in a bidistrict match Friday.

Brahmas take victory over Tidehaven

The Hallettsville Brahmas split two games last week.The Brahmas defeated Tidehaven in El Maton Tuesday, Feb. 3, 60-42.Hallettsville leapt out to an 18-5 lead at the end of the first quarter behind six points by Gavyn Chapa.

Indians drop season finale

SHINER – The Sacred Indians dropped their season finale to St. Paul Thursday night, 83-58, in a TAPPS District 5, Division IV contest.The Cardinals (20-5, 5-1) had a 21-12 lead at the end of the first quarter with Carter Chilek leading the charge with eight points.

TAPPS Realignment for 2026-28

TAPPS announced its realignment for 2026-2028 last week.The Sacred Heart Indians are assigned to Division IV - District 2 in football with Temple Central Christian School, Houston Northland Christian, Tomball Rosehill Christian and St. Paul.
