Sacred Heart competed in the Schulenburg Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday.“ We played well Thursday,” head coach Wanda Orsak said. “We never had the intensity and energy Friday and Saturday.”The Indianettes, (5- 11)will play in the Rice Consolidated Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

In their home opener against Flatonia, the St. Paul volleyball team invested in a good rotation that paid dividends.The Lady Cardinals defeated Flatonia 25-17. 22-25, 25-18, 25-12 Aug. 19.“I was really pleased with it,” St. Paul head coach Max Bergkamp said.

The Shiner cross-country team ran in the Stockdale Brahma Invitational on Saturday.Varsity GirlsAlena Winkenwerder was No. 36 with a time of 16 minutes, 16.46 seconds and a pace of 8:08. Kayla Heinold was No. 56 in 18:58.28 (9:29).Varsity BoysThe Comanches scored 182 points to place seventh.

In their final scrimmage of the season against Ganado, Shiner did not start or finish that great but was good in between.“We have to start faster,” Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. “We also did not finish real well at the end and got tired.

Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches earn third at Schulenurg tourney

The Lady Comanches finished third out of the16-team field in the Schulenburg Tournament Thursday through Saturday, going 5-3. Shiner lost to Columbus to start the Gold bracket and then defeated Weimar to win the Gold consolation.
