Splash pad coming soon

Many residents have been asking for it, but the new splash pad at the City Park will be coming soon. This is included within the Texas Parks and Wildlife grant the city passed more than a year ago.

City’s Comprehensive Plan

A newly adopted Comprehensive Plan adopted by the Yoakum City Council is now available for the public to view. This plan involves goals toward improvements to the downtown area as well as other initiatives.

YEDC approves funding for improvement project

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation (YEDC) Board of Directors has approved funding assistance to a “significant private investment in downtown Yoakum” at a special called meeting late last month.

Yoakum City Council approves code ordinances, swears in members for upcoming terms

Yoakum City Council held a public hearing and approved a second and final reading of Ordinance No. 2241 adopting updated international construction and safety codes for commercial and residential buildings at the May 12 meeting.

YEDC approves grants to enhance local business and community aesthetics

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation (YEDC) approved two grant applications during its Feb. 24 meeting, supporting business development and continued improvements to community aesthetics.The first application was submitted by Yoakum Lube and Tire LLC, located at 212 U.S. Highway 77A North.
