Feral hogs continue to multiply across the country

Wild hogs, also known as feral hogs, are a species of pig that roam in the wild across many parts of the United States. They are considered to be the most destructive invasive species in this country today.

Shiner Royalty attends Goliad Rodeo Parade

The Shiner Royalty traveled to Goliad to help the community kick off their Rodeo week with the Goliad Livestock and Rodeo Parade.  The parade took place through beautiful downtown. Proudly representing the City of Shiner were: Megan Winkenwerder, Miss Shiner First Runner-up; Stella Clifford Jr.

Shiner Pilot Club members perform plays for Shiner schools

Members of The Pilot Club of Shiner kicked off March with a signing of the Proclamation by Mayor Fred Hilscher to announce the celebration of Brain Awareness Week March 13-20, 2023.
The pinewood derby racers (pictured from left to right) were Clayton Coburn, Clinton Alexander, Joseph Heinhold, Kenward Kolar, Andrew Machacek, William Ulcak, Isaac Bonorden, Nathan Killmer, Eli Bays, Jacob Mahurin, Pierce Wallace, Kolton Wilgus, Ryan Bays, Dawn Bishop, and Caleb Killmer.

Annual Cub Scouts pinewood derby held

Shiner Cub Scout Pack 231 held its annual pinewood derby on Sunday, March 5.  Fifteen scouts competed for the coveted overall grand champion trophy.
The Sacred Heart Catholic School 5th graders recently participated in the St. Jude Math-A-Thon program and raised $2,358.25. The amount raised  goes toward helping kids who battle cancer and other deadly diseases. During the past years, the 5th grade classes have been involved in the program and have raised a total of over $14 thousand.
