It’s that time of the year again!  Time for us to ask everyone who is able to donate blood or platelets to this worthy cause.  Since December of 2015 we have been hosting this life-saving event, and every year the generosity of all of you donors out there never ceases to amaze us.

Shiner Catholic School donates toys

Students from Shiner Catholic School collected toys for the Deputy Santa program. Officers from the Shiner Police Department and the Lavaca County Sheriff’s office came to the school to pick up the toys. All the toys collected filled nearly an entire sheriff’s van.

Shiner Rotary Club donates to Anna's Angels

Anna’s Angels stopped by the Shiner Rotary Club meeting last week to discuss their goals this year. “This awesome organization touches the hearts of many local families every Christmas season,” Shiner ISD superintendent and club member Alex Remschel said. “Keep up the good work.

Jenny Lopez makes Yoakum FFA history

Yoakum FFA member, Jennifer “Jenny”  Lopez, began her journey to make program history last month. Lopez and 40 fellow Yoakum FFA members, competed in the Horizon District Leadership Development Events (LDEs) Contest in Cuero on Nov. 2.

A Big Blue Holiday Concert

  Holiday tunes flooded the auditorium and drifted through Yoakum High School’s (YHS) hallways as Yoakum ISD (YISD) musicians stunned the audience at Sunday afternoon’s annual holiday concert.    Both high school and junior high students performed to a densely packed audience.

Shiner Lions Club thanks community

The Shiner Lions would like to thank our amazing community again for their support. “We sold out of rice at the Shiner Chamber Christmas in the Park at the Brewery.  Thanks Shiner Chamber for putting on such an awesome event! While there, we made a donation to the Shiner ISD Moms for Prom.

Turtle Wing holiday night set Dec. 18 in Yoakum

The Turtle Wing Foundation, a Fayette County based non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources to special education students and their families, scheduled a holiday family night in Yoakum on Dec. 18 for students who receive assistance from the foundation.
