Catholic School work camp offers more than just a hard day’s work

What do you get when you take 60 kids, give them 18 separate work projects and then send them forth, all over town, on three of the hottest days yet this year to get it all done? Well, the answer to that question depends entirely on two items, really.

Spoetzl Brewery donates to Community Connections

The Spoetzl Brewery Charitable Fund committee recently donated $2,500 to Community Connections of Lavaca Country to help offset fuel and maintenance costs of the vehicles used for public transportation and meal delivery to our local citizens.

LaVerne Ball turns 100

The year was 1922 when LaVerne Schacherl Ball was born, July 5, to Louis and Sophie Schacherl in Floresville. Raised in Moulton, she was the oldest of four girls including Dorothy, Shirley, and Marilyn.   LaVerne attended the Sam and Will Moore Institute.

Shiner Catholic School freshman Audrey Thibodeaux of Shiner became the new Texas Junior High Rodeo Finals and State Pole Bending Champion at the state finals held last month at Gonzales’ J.B. Wells Park, Arena and Expo Center.

The Chamber's Miss Moulton, Junior Miss Moulton, Little Miss Moulton and Little Mister Moulton crowns will one again be up for grabs at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 24, but you've got to sign up by Tuesday, July 5. Here the current year's Chamber royalty poses for a picture at the recent Chisholm Trail Parade, where the team placed second in Chamber floats at the event held in Lockhart on Saturday, June 11.

Even triple digit heat didn't keep people away Sunday when members of St. Mary's Catholic Church near Hallettsville hosted their annual June picnic. There was plenty of food to eat, and plenty of cold drinks to drink, though.
