Seminarians ordained as transitional deacons Saturday

Catholic seminarians Ryan Kapavik, a 2015 graduate of Shiner’s St. Paul High School, and Luke Prihoda were both ordained as transitional deacons during a special ceremony held Saturday, June 11, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory in Victoria.

There’s a likely chance we’ve all got one stashed someplace. Be it your go-to water cooler at a jobsite or something you only break out occasionally, after all the rest are full, most everyone has an Igloo cooler or ice chest around their place somewhere.

Summer brings intense high temps

An exotic game ranch containing more than 2,000 animals and 100 species sits adjacent to the Texas Disposal Systems (TDS) landfill, which is the final destination for most of Yoakum’s solid waste.

Allergies are nothing to sneeze at

Most folks living in Texas are used to dealing with stopped up nasal passages, a runny nose and sneezing during certain times of the year. The culprit? Allergies. And although some people might believe that this situation comes about only in the spring time, that’s far from the truth.

It’s safe to assume that a sizeable portion of the tattoos decorating the Yoakum community come from the lone parlor in town, Yoakum Ink.   It may be no surprise that the man with ‘Yoakum Ink’ tattooed in large lettering across his head has been at the helm of the operation.
