3rd Annual Pivo and Kolaches .5K held March 23

The Shiner Lions Club hosted the 3rd Annual Pivo and Kolaches .5K on March 23 in Green Dickson Park. All proceeds from this year’s Pivo and Kolaches .5K benefited the Alzheimer’s Association.

MISD approves 2024-25 school year calendar

In a very short agenda, the Moulton Independent School District has officially adopted the 2024-25 school calendar at the March 20 meeting. Earlier this school year, the district formed a calendar committee consisting of teachers, administrators, and the superintendent.

Commissioners name April as Child Abuse Prevention Month

In the agenda, DeWitt County Commissioners approved a proclamation for the DeWitt County Child Welfare Board establishing April 2024 as National Child Abuse Prevention Month at the March 25 meeting.Reports were given showing that there were 270,000 victims of abuse or neglect in Texas.

Yoakum African American Cemetery gets improvements

The Yoakum Historic African American Cemetery has been around since 1893. Within the past two years, work has been done on sprucing up the graveyard.Recently, coordinators of the cemetery hired an individual to come out and map the entire gravesite.

After hearing a report from Lavaca County interim election administrator Tenia Hudson at its Monday morning meeting, the Commissioners’ Court acknowledged the results of the primary election held on March 5.

Hallettsville Little League: Enjoying success over the years

The opening day of the Hallettsville Little League season was held this past Saturday, March 23 and marked the 64th year for the baseball side of the program and the 50th year for softball competition.
