Harmon, Greenwell to have run-off

Following the tabulation of votes in last Tuesday’s primary election, the Lavaca County election administrator’s and the Texas State Secretary’s office released the unofficial count of votes. In this year’s election, out of the 14,081 registered Lavaca County voters, 39.

Court addresses short agenda

Addressing a short agenda, the Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting Monday morning and heard County Auditor Shana Opela present the audit/review of the jail commissary for Oct. 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023.

Council revives talks on new fire station

City officials will be headed back to the drawing board when it comes to getting a new fire station built in Shiner, council members agreed at their March 4th meeting.“Basically, we are going back to some of the original plans drawn up over four years ago,” City Secretary Natalie Fric said.

Shiner Heritage Quilters host “Spring into Quilting” show

The Shiner Heritage Quilters Guild held their 2024 “Spring into Quilting” show this past weekend. About 350 people from all over the country including Wisconsin, Iowa, Montana, and even Germany came and participated in the quilt show. “The show was wonderful,” Guild President Janet Ferguson said.
