‘Mystery Adventure’

The Vysehrad Independent School District gave some of their students a special surprise on Thursday, Feb. 29.Students were able to see a live PHI Air Evac helicopter and a Lavaca County EMS ambulance.

Deer Park Team captures 42 Domino Tournament title

The annual State Championship 42 Domino tournament took place this past Saturday with a 149 teams competing for the title.When all the shuffling and bidding was done, the Deer Park team of Tom Fry and John Harrison defeated James Young and Art Curby, both of Wimberley to capture the championship.

HVFD answers to house fire

The Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Department was called to a structure (house) fire last Wednesday, Feb. 28 around 9:28 a.m. According to HVFD fire chief Stephen Grahmann, the house located at 409 N. Rogers St., had heavy fire damage to the back and moderate fire damage to the front.

Shiner City Wide Clean-Up Week March 18-22

The City of Shiner has scheduled CLEAN-UP WEEK for MARCH 18-MARCH 22.ZONES 1, 3 & 5 must be out by 7 a.m. Monday, March 18 and ZONES 2 & 4 must be out by 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 20.The following rules shall apply:ONE STOP per location with no returns to that location.

Green-Dickson Park to get new pickle ball court, disc golf course

Green-Dickson Park in Shiner is poised for several new amenities in coming weeks, not least of which is a new pickle ball court.Pickle ball is a paddle sport that is akin to tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It uses a paddle and a plastic ball with holes and is a game for all ages.

Gaslight Theatre Spring Production

DeWitt County Commissioners received a presentation from SJRC Belong Organization at the Feb. 26 meeting. SJRC’s mission statement is to offer healing and hope to children and families affected by abuse, abandonment, or neglect.
