YEDC receives needed Industrial Park II grant

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation has officially received a disaster supplement grant in the amount of $2.5 million for Industrial Park II at the Feb. 20 joint City Council and EDC meeting.

Primary general election Tuesday, March 5

Early voting in the Democrat and Republican party primaries ended Friday, March 1 and the general election will take place this Tuesday, March 5. All 11 voting locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Hallettsville Elem. opens STEM Center

In partnership with the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, Devon Energy opened its 150th science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) Center at Hallettsville Elementary last Tuesday, Feb. 20.

March proclaimed Quilt Celebration Month

Mayor Fred Hilscher signed a proclamation declaring March as Quilt Celebration Month in Shiner. The “Spring into Quilting” show is Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at the Shiner Methodist Church Activity Center (directly behind the church) off Hwy 90A east.

The best high school musicians from across the state traveled to San Antonio to attend the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Clinic and Convention from February 7 - 10.
