School counselors give update to the board

In a very short agenda at the Feb. 19 Shiner ISD School Board meeting, counselors from both Shiner Elementary School and Shiner High School gave updates on what’s happening in the coming school year. On the high school side of things, one major topic of discussion was scholarships.

One of Shiner’s blasts from the past is seeing something of a resurgence locally with the release of their latest single that songwriter Waldo Boehm of Shiner dubbed “Poor Ol’ Willie.

Moulton ISD launches district mobile app

Parents and students at Moulton ISD can now navigate what is going on at the school with few swipes thanks to the launch of their new mobile app. “The way that you get the app is if you go to your app store and type in Moulton ISD and then download the app,” school counselor Angela Zumwalt said.

Yoakum ISD grants campus access to chaplains

Yoakum ISD (YISD) trustees voted yes on Feb. 12 evening on a resolution accepting chaplains as volunteers on campus at their board meeting at the YISD Administration Building. This measure takes effect on March 1.

Grand jury hands out 19 felony indictments

Members of the DeWitt County grand Jury handed down 19 felony indictments for the month of January 2024. Of those 19 cases, six were marked as sealed indictments, which are typically issued whenever law enforcement has not yet served arrest warrants in an active investigation.

Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. has placed a temporary mobile ATM at 617 Highway 90-A West/Fairwinds to service the Hallettsville community. According to Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.

HISD Board discusses/approves various agenda items

A mixed bag of approving agenda items and discussions of items topped the HISD Board of Trustees meeting Monday night. The trustees okayed a bond election for Saturday, May 4. No particulars of the bond were not announced. Rain has delayed completion of the parking lot east of the high school.

City to hold bond election in May 4 Local Election

It became official at Monday night’s special meeting of the City Council: Hallettsville voters will cast ballots on a bond election Saturday, May 4. The bond is for $6.0 million, which will be used to repair declining streets.
