Notice of temporary street closure

The City of Hallettsville apologized for the inconvenience, but the Willis Street Bridge will be closed for three days starting Sunday, Dec. 17, until Tuesday, Dec. 19, for some needed testing to have this bridge replaced.

A parade at the Pearl

Five Moulton High School cheerleaders had the opportunity to experience the Aloha State of Hawaii. There, they were able to cheer in front of millions as part of the Pearl Harbor Day parade in Honolulu, marking the 82nd anniversary of the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, which drew the U.S.

Trustees adopt SB 629 at YISD

The Yoakum ISD board of directors approved a policy update Monday that places lifesaving drugs like epinephrine or naloxone on school campuses across the district.

YEDC awards grant to Grand Theater for expansion

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation awarded a $75,000 downtown revitalization grant going towards the purchase of a new building for the Grand Theater. This has been in the works since October. The building will be right across the street from the Grand at 212 W. May St.

Commissioners renew juvenile incarceration agreement

DeWitt County commissioners on Monday, Dec. 11, renewed a one-year contract between the San Patricio County Juvenile Probation Department and DeWitt County that provides for pre-adjudication detention of juvenile offenders. That agreement begins with the start of the new year on Jan. 1, 2024.
