Yoakum Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet, Jan. 25

The Yoakum Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet will be held Jan. 25, 2024 at the Yoakum Community Center. This year’s banquet theme is Kentucky Derby and we will feature real casino games, such as Blackjack, Roulette, and Craps tables during happy hour.

Yoakum City Ordinance: Sec. 18-47 Fireworks: No person shall cast, throw or fire any squib, rocket, cracker, torpedo, grenade, cap or cartridge, or other combustible fireworks of any kind in the city.

Shiner Junior High School Band students place well at competition

Junior high band students from across the area auditioned at the Region 18/26 High School All-Region contest on December 2. This contest challenged the students to learn 5 scales and 2 pieces of difficult music.

Truck hauling crushed cars crashes on I-10 Thursday

An 18-wheeler rollover along Interstate 10, just west of Flatonia, slowed traffic for several hours on Thursday morning, Nov. 30. The wreck happened around 9:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes near the rest stop about halfway between Flatonia and the Gonzales County Line.
