Director named to governor’s advisory council

The EMS director for Colorado and Lavaca counties was recently named to the Governor’s EMS-Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC), according to a letter sent out earlier this month by Dr. Jennifer A. Shuford, commissioner of the Texas Health and Human Services.

Juenke appointed to LHD board

The Lavaca Hospital District Board of Directors met Monday evening, Nov. 20 and appointed Ronnie Juenke to the Place 3 position on the board. Juenke replaces John Allen who resigned from the board last month.

Court sets guidelines for laying temporary waterlines

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting Monday morning and implemented a permit for the use of laying a temporary waterline in the county road right-of-way. Commissioner Kenny Siegel said the implementation of the permit mainly affects Precincts 2 and 3.

Festival of Lights has huge turnout

The annual Hallettsville Festival of Lights turned out to be a massive success. The Christmas spirit was alive and well as many gathered to celebrate 26 years of the event. The event kicked off at noon and entertainment for both kids and adults were provided.

Deputy Santa now in full swing

Deputy Santa collections are now in full swing as members of the four Chamber of Commerce Royalty Courts have started collecting toys for all age groups. The groups gather gifts from newborns to ten-year-olds, according to Lavaca County Chief Deputy and Deputy Santa Coordinator J.R. Peters.
