HISD board holds special called meeting

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees met in a brief special-called meeting Friday morning and voted to terminate tuition agreements with the Vysehrad and Sweet Home Independent School Districts.

Veterans Appreciation Day Saturday

Veterans Appreciation Day will take place this Saturday at the Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Hall.The annual event marks its 21st year for honoring the veterans and doors will open at 11 a.m.At noon, a program ceremony will be held honoring the service of veterans.

March on short side of rain

This March saw below normal rainfall along with high winds. A number of days saw winds gusting to near fifty miles per hour.Rainfall reached 1.29 inches, with rain falling on five days. The heaviest at 0.58 of an inch fell on the twenty-seventh. Normal average rain for the month is 2.46 inches.

Texans Helping Texans

On March 26 through early March 28, the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) was inundated with over 20 inches of rainfall.Eastern Starr County, southern Hidalgo County and northern Cameron County were the most severely hit and set records of rainfall at many locations in those areas.

Early voting in mayor race starts April 22

Early voting in the City of Hallettsville’s mayor race is set to begin in less than two weeks.Early voting by personal appearance will start on April 22 and run through Friday, April 25 as well as on Monday and Tuesday, April 28-29.Voting hours will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

HPD makes drug arrest in City Park

The Hallettsville Police Department conducted an arrest of two individuals at the Hallettsville City Park with one discovered to be in possession of drug.According to a HPD Facebook post, at approximately 12:27 a.m.

Hagan named new Chamber of Commerce Director

The Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome Jennifer Hagan as their new Chamber Director.“I did come from a family of entrepreneurs,” Hagan said. “I was born and raised here in Hallettsville so I’ve been a part of the community for generations.
