St. Paul volleyball: SP spikers win 3rd in Gold bracket at Rice Consolid. tourney

    The Lady Cardinals placed third in the Gold Bracket and went 7-1 last Thursday through Friday at the Rice Tournament.
    Thursday pool play
    St. Paul won all three pool games on Thursday.
    St Paul 2, RC 0
    The Lady Cardinals swept the hosts 25-8 and 25-12 in their first  game. 
    St. Paul had 44 digs, 23 kills, 21 assists, five aces and three blocks.
    SP 2, Fayetteville 0
    St. Paul beat Fayetteville in two games 25-23, 25-23. The Lady Cards had 10 kills, eight assists and eight digs.
    St. Paul 2, Wharton 0
    St. Paul ended the day with a 25-12, 25-12 win over Wharton. 
    The team had 26 digs, 25 kills, 18 assists, nine aces and two blocks.
    Friday pool play
    The Lady Cards went 3-0 in the reshuffled pool on Friday.

    St. Paul started the day with a 25-22, 25-7 sweep over Navasota with 24 digs, 20 kills, 19 assists, five aces and one block.
    St. Paul 2, Palacios 0
    The Lady Cards downed Palacios 25-20, 25-10. St. Paul had 35 digs, 19 assists, 16 kills, five aces and five blocks.
    St. Paul 2, Gonzales 0
    St. Paul swept Gonzales 25-21, 25-12 to end Friday’s play. They had 46 digs, 20 kills, 16 assists, six aces and four blocks.
    Gold bracket play
    Burton 2, St. Paul 1
    The Lady Cards fell to the Lady Panthers in three sets (19-25, 25-21, 25-13) in the Gold semifinals for St. Paul’s lone loss of the tournament.
    St. Paul had 29 kills, 29 assists, 51 digs, five aces and one block.
    St. Paul 2, Boling 0
    The Lady Cards defeated Boling in the Gold consolation championship match, 25-11 and 25-20.
    St. Paul had 34 digs, 27 kills, 20 assists, five aces and two blocks.
