Daniel Pekar
Daniel Adolph Pekar, 96, of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 24 at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Moore Bowen Funeral Home, Arlington.
He was born July 22, 1926 in Sweet Home, to the late Adolph Nick and Carrie Roller Pekar. He married Lillian Hranitzky November 15, 1947. Soon after marriage they moved to Del Rio, followed by Houston where he lived for most of his adult life. Daniel spent his remaining time in Mansfield, Tx.
He was member of Saint Jude Catholic Church, Heart of the Nation, S.P.J.S.T and a proud WWII Navy veteran. He retired as a manger for an electronics company “Automatic Power” a division of Total SA. Daniel was previously employed by Westinghouse and Tribble Advertising Company. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Lillian Hranitzky Pekar; son, Gary Pekar and wife Terri; grandchildren, Jared and Lauren Pekar, Shawna Thomas and husband Rob, Gregg Pekar and wife Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Madison, and Aaron Thomas, Paige and Avery Pekar; sisters, Carrie Kacir and husband Herbert, and Lillian Pullin; in-laws, Melba and Joy Pekar, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Warren Pekar; his parents; brothers, Ed Pekar, August Pekar, Joe Pekar and wife Genevieve, Marvin Pekar and wife Betty; sister, Margaret Kunetka and husband Marvin; and nephew, Leon Kunetka.
