Robert G. Layton

Robert G. Layton, 80, of Sheridan,passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 in Sheridan. He was born on Sept. 12, 1941 in Sublime to Louie Layton and Evelyn (Willeford) Layton.  On Sept. 6, 1963, he married Betty Brisco. Robert worked as a welder for many years. He spent time in the U.S.

Arlyn Kloesel

Arlyn Kloesel, a retired Distinguish Senior Lecturer at the College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Arlyn was born in Hallettsville on Feb. 23, 1939 to Arthur and Ruby (Grasshoff) Kloesel.   He was preceded in death by his parents.

Eugene "Gene" Brooks

Eugene “Gene” Brooks, 71, of Shiner, entered his sunset Sunday, July 10, 2022. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., with Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16 at Shiner Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Greathouse officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum.

Jimmie Murrile

James Dan “Jimmie” Murrile, 74, of East Bernard passed away in a Houston hospital on Sunday, June 19, 2022, surrounded with love by his family. Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 22 starting at 5 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard, with a church rosary recited at 6 p.m.

Janie Rose McCord Satterfield

Janie Rose McCord Satterfield, age 84, passed away June 22. She was born Jan. 26, 1938 in Lavaca County to Benedict and Frances Raska McCord. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's gauging business and the head cook at Senior Citizens Center.

Gary Dwight Simpson

Gary Dwight Simpson, age 77, passed away June 23. He was born Dec. 16, 1944 in Tuscola, Ill. to Murle and Grace Peasley Simpson. He was a farmer and custodian for Yoakum ISD. He attended New Life Baptist Church.

Anita Hagens

Anita Hagens completed her journey July 3 at the age of 94. She was born March 21, 1928 in Vsetin to Charles and Annie (Trlica) Holly. Anita retired from TexTan after 26 years of service. She was a wife, mother, homemaker, cook and baker, and often sewed in her spare time.

Tanya D. Cecil

Tanya Diane Cecil, 43, of Gonzales, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 21, with burial following in Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. She was a graduate of Shiner High School.

Lexie Etlinger Rothbauer

Lexie Etlinger Rothbauer, 82, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022.  She was born on July 18, 1939 in Moulton to August “Buster” Etlinger Sr. and Lexie Kurtz Etlinger. Lexie graduated from Moulton High School and married Allen Eugene Rothbauer on Jan. 11, 1958.  She worked for H.E.B.

 Joe Alton Bennett Sr.

 Memorial service for Joe Alton Bennett Sr., who passed away on Dec. 16, 2021, will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Garden Mausoleum, located in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Hallettsville.
