Little League update: Minor baseball, Major baseball, Junior softball win zone tournaments
The Minor (8-10) baseball team, the Major baseball team and Junior softball team all won their respective East Zone tournament championships.
8-10 Softball (Yoakum)
Shiner blanked Hallettsville 2-0 on June 20. They took on New Braunfels on June 22, rallying from a 5-0 deficit to win 13-5.
Shiner played Hallettsville on Friday, falling 11-3 to force a second game to determine the East Zone championship; Hallettsville won that game 14-4.
8-10 Baseball (Yoakum)
Shiner won a nail bitter against Hallettsville, 7-6 on June 20. The two teams rematched on June 22 for the Zone championship and Shiner took the title with a 12-2 victory.
Major Softball (Luling)
Shiner fell to Hallettsville 9-3 on Sunday for its first loss of the tournament. Shiner wrapped up Tournament play with a 15-9 loss to Cuero on June 21.
Major Baseball (Luling)
Shiner lost to Hallettsville 6-2 on June 21 and rebounded for a 10-0 win over Lockhart on June 22. Shiner got redemption by edging Hallettsville 6-5 on June 23 and played Hallettsville for the third time on Friday, winning 9-4 to claim the East Zone championship.
Junior Softball (Cuero)
Shiner was crowned East Zone champions after routing Lockhart 22-2 on June 20.

Shiner fell to Hallettsville 16-6 on June 20 and came back to beat Gonzales 17-14 on June 21. Siner won a rematch with Hallettsville 5-4 on June 22 but Hallettsville won 4-2 on Thursday to take the East Zone championship.
