The Moulton softball team pulled away from D’Hanis in the bi-district round Thursday at Marion with a nine-run fourth inning for a 14-3 win.
After a scoreless first inning, Moulton scored five runs in the bottom of the second frame; D’Hanis got within 5-2 in the top of the third and then get within 5-3 in the fifth box.
Bethany Kram led the Kittens at the plate by going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles; Araceli Vasquez went 2-for-3, two runs, two RBI, triple and double while Addison Simper hit 2-for-4, double, two runs and three RBI.
Kram pitched five squares, allowing three runs on six hits, three walks and seven strikeouts.
Kenzie Dvorak had four putouts on defense.
The Kittens are set to play Pettus in the regional quarterfinal round tomorrow (Thursday) at 6 p.m. in Ganado. Moulton is the visitors and Pettus is the home team. This will be a one-game series.
