State track and field athletes to compete Thursday

Jayana Phil - lips, Jayla Hessler, Chase Polk, and the girls and boys 400-meter relay teams, and the boys 800-relay team will compete in the UIL state meet tomorrow (Thursday) at University of Texas’s Mike A. Meyers Stadium.

Phillips will compete in the long jump at 9 a.m., then will do the triple jump, along with Hessler, at 1 p.m.

The girls 400-relay team of Valentina Hopkins, Phillips, Aubrie Jendrzey, Hessler. Makayla Olmedo and Emmie Leftwich and the boys 400-relay team of Trae Cuellar, X’Zavier Barnett, Qyion Williams, Zach Taylor, Polk, Jamar Hopkins, Brayden Neubauer and Gage Harrison will run their races starting at 5.

The boys 800-relay team of Cuellar, Barnett, Williams, Taylor, Polk, Hopkins, Neubauer and Harrison will run around 6:30.

Phillips and Polk will run their respective 400-meter dash races, starting at 6:45.
