Brahmas lose another tough one

Another great effort by the Hallettsville Brahmas did not equal a win.The Brahmas suffered a 28-20 tough loss to Rockport-Fulton before a sizeable Homecoming crowd here Friday night.The Brahmas (2-4) saw a 20-14 halftime lead dissipate in the 28-20 loss to the Pirates.

St. Paul will host Conroe Covenant in  the district opener while the Comanches will wait until Oct. 18 to start district due to a cancellation and forfeit..Conroe Covenant at SPThe Cardinals are back at home for just the second time this season to welcome Conroe Covenant for the district opener.

St. Paul cross country: Lady Cardinals win first at SH meet

The St. Paul cross-country team ran at the Sacred Heart meet on Saturday. The girls won the Gold in their division. The team will run in the Victoria Citizens Race for the Cure 5K on Saturday.The state meet will be Oct. 28 at Cottonweed Golf Course in Waco. The girls will run at 1:40 p.m.

Shiner cross country: Burns, Shiner boys advance to regionals

Shiner hosted the 28-2A District Cross Country meet Monday at Green Dickson Park.Varsity GirlsMegan Burns came in fifth and will run at the regional meet as an individual. She had a time of 14 minutes, 5.06 seconds.Jo Caka placed No. 24 in 16:29.46 and Jewel Caka was No. 26 in 17:29.

Riley Mozisek (12) and Skylar Mozisek (10) teamed up for 22 combined kills as St. Paul notched a big district win against rival Hallettsville Sacred Heart 25-17, 25-15, 25-19 Oct. 2 at home.Skylar Mozisek had 15 digs for a double double; Dallyn Pesek had 34 assists and Erin Hajek led St.

Teamwork, cohesion and intensity were there; the results were not as the Shiner volleyball team came up short. The Lady Comanches lost to Weimar 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-20) in Shiner’s first district home game Oct. 1.

The Yoakum High School (YHS) Yoakum Volleyball Team battled Columbus but came up short.The Lady Cardinals took the first set very stoutly at 25-11 before having to work harder in winning sets two and three, 25-19, 25-18.“We did good things tonight.

Pumpkin Patch open through October

The Hallettsville Methodist Church fundraiser, known as the Pumpkin Patch opened Saturday, Sept. 28 and will be open throughout the month of October.Hours of operation include Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.
