Shiner baseball: Ganado beats Shiner in three games in RQ series

VICTORIA —  Shiner’s bid for a fourth-straight appearance at the state tournament came up short as they fell to Ganado 2-1 in the regional-quarterfinals series Thursday through Saturday at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.

Shiner track and field: Burns signs to run track at DBU

Hayleigh Burns has done a lot during her time as a member of the Shiner track and field team.This year, she ran the 1,600-meter relay, the 400, the 800 and competed in  pole vault. She was also an alternate on the 400 relay team at state.

Shiner softball: LC sweep Bremond to return to regional final

The Shiner softball team earned the regional-semifinal title with a sweep of Bremond, winning 14-1 Friday in Dripping Springs and 10-0 Saturday at Georgetown Eastview High School.The Lady Comanches did their homework and knew what to expect from the Lady Tigers.

LB doubles team lose in opening round

SAN ANTONIO – Olivia Etzler and April Leopold lost in their opening round to Edgewood’s (located 60 miles from Dallas) Trinity Hale, 6-1, 7-6 (8) at Blossom Tennis Center Thursday.The duo went 42-4 during the season and won seven tournaments.

Moulton softball: Slocum ends Kittens’ historical softball run

The historical run of the Kittens softball team came to end Saturday in the regional-final series against Slocum in Mumford.The Kittens had little offense in game one, falling 15-1 before getting a little more in the second game but still coming up short 11-4.Moulton finishes with a 14-11 record.

LB clear huge hurdle in sweep of Lady Lions

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas advanced to the state quarterfinals after sweeping San Gertrudis Academy, 4-0 and 6-4.It was sweet revenge for the LB who lost to the Lady Lions, 5-4 and 14-12, a year ago.“We had a great defensive showing in both games,” Lady Brahma coach Callie Kresta said.

End of the road for Brahmas in 9-7 loss to Cobras

KARNES CITY –The Hallettsville Brahmas just simply ran out of ammunition.The Brahmas succumbed to Vanderbilt Industrial, 9-7, at Curtis Perkins Field Friday night in the third round of the playoffs.The Brahmas made a tremendous comeback after trailing 5-0 and 9-3.
