Youth sports: Sweet Digs 13U volleyball gets runner up at Buda Tournament

Sweet Digs 13U finished in second place at the TFV #11 Tournament in Buda weekend of May 4.

LB duo advances to State

JOURDANTON – April Leopold and Olivia Etzler advanced to state for the second year in a row with a second place finish at the Region IV-3A Tournament last week.The LB were the #2 seed coming into the tournament and were defeated by the top seed, Jourdanton in the finals 6-7, 7-5, 7-5.

Shiner baseball: Comanches nine give up nothing in area sweep of Freer

The Shiner Comanches blanked Freer 16-0 and 1-0 in the area-round series last week at Karnes City.The Comanches face  district oppponent Ganado in the regional quarterfinals in a best-of-three series at Victoria Riverside Stadium. Game one will be today (Thursday) at 7 p.m.

Brahmas defeat Lytle, 7-3

KARNES CITY – Hallettsville seemed headed for a runrule game with Lytle after leading 7-0 in its area round playoff contest.But things got a little dicey after Lytle rallied for three runs in the sixth inning before the Brahmas held on for a 7-3 victory at Perkins Field Friday night.

St. Paul softball: Sacred Heart rallies to down SP in semis

ARLINGTON — A flurry of late-inning runs allowed Sacred Heart to rally from a 4-0 and 6-4 deficits to beat St. Paul 16-6 in the state semifinals Friday at Allan Saxe Softball Field.The Indianettes powerful hitting game produced 16 hits and four home runs with two by Haley Noska.

Shiner softball: LC down Charlotte in two to advance to regional semifinals

KARNES CITY — The Shiner softball team swept Charlotte 10-0, 10-0 in the regional quarterfinals series last week at Karnes City High School. Shiner faces Bremond in the regional semifinals this week. Game one will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Dripping Springs High School.

Shiner girls golf: Lady Comanches golf get top 7 finish at state meet

The Shiner Lady Comanches placed sixth in the UIL state girls golf tournament last week.They finished 28 strokes out of third place.Chelseas Whiddon carded 92-92-184 to lead Shiner; Callie Chrismon went 96-92-199; Brianna Sofka recorded 95-105-200.
