Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches handle Weimar 65-32

The Shiner Lady Comanches have been on quite the tear. The Lady Comanches have won all eight district games coming into this week, have not lost a game since early December and are ranked in the top 6 in Class 2A in the state. Shiner will need to keep up the focus and intensity to keep on rolling.

Shiner boys basketball: Comanches thrash Weimar to extend streak

A 49-28 win over Weimar at home Friday was the third straight win for the Shiner Comanches. The Comanches are making lots of strides, and the win put them at 4-3 in district and in fourth place. “These are the games we needed to win,” Shiner head coach Jeff Akin said.

Moulton boys basketball: Junior High Katz win home tournament

The Moulton Junior High boys team took home their tournament championship with a 3-0 record Friday and Saturday. Moulton 36, Bastrop Tribe 23 Carson Beyer converted two triples and finished with 14 points to to lead the Katz to a 36-23 win over Bastrop Tribe on Friday.

2024 YHS Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team

The Lady Bulldogs basketball team beat Palacios and lost to Edna in district action last week. Madison Gonzales scored 14 points and Jayana Phillps made 11 points as the Lady Bulldog defeated Palacios 47-32 at home Jan. 9.

YHS Lady Bulldogs soccer plays four at tournament

The Yoakum High School (YHS) Lady Bulldogs won one, tied one, and lost two games last week at the Giddings Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs played its first game against Bellville, battling to a 1-1 tie with Mileydi Gonzales scoring the goal for the Lady Bulldogs.

Bulldogs win against the Brahmas

The Bulldogs soccer team first game of the season turned out to be a delight. Led by a pair of goals each from Markangel Sanchez and Ian Pilat, the Bulldogs netted a 6-0 win against rival Hallettsville on Jan. 8 at Bulldog Stadium.

Bulldogs win against the Sharks

Jamar Hopkins made four triples and scored 13 points with X’Zavier Barnett making another 13 points as the Bulldogs won against Palacios 51- 37 Jan.9 in Palacios. The Bulldogs led 14- 11 after one quarter and the teams split 20 points in the second quarter for a 24-21 Bulldog lead at the break.
