Brahmas get much-needed victory

A loss to Columbus here Friday night would have put the Hallettsville Brahmas in dire straits. But the Brahmas managed a 63-56 double overtime victory over the Cardinals in a 25-AAA game for their first district victory.

Indians 95, Eagles 29

The Sacred Heart Indians’ 95-29 TAPPS District 5 Division IV victory over Cedar Park Summit was easier than easy. The Indians hit a ton of lay ups after Eagle turnovers in the 95-29 win the SH Gym Thursday. Nic Angerstein led the onslaught with 30 points as 11 Indians got in the scoring column.

Lady Brahmas victors over Columbus

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas have never beaten Columbus during coach Hunter Hlavaty’s tenure. Friday night in the HHS Gym, the Lady Brahmas (22-4, 4-1) held off the defending district champion Lady Cardinals, 53-47. The LB had what seemed to be a safe 45-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.

St. Paul basketball: Girls alumni team, current boys teams victors in SP alumn hoops games

The St. Paul girls and boys basketball teams hosted Alumni games on Jan. 2 with the alumni teams facing the current varsity squads. Girls: Alumni 53, St. Paul 41 2022 graduate Rebecca Wagner slotted home 10 points to lead the Alumni Lady Cardinals to a 53-41 win over the current team.

St. Paul girls basketball: Lady Cards JV get third in Moulton

The St. Paul Lady Cardinal junior varsity went 1-1 in the Moulton Tournament on Saturday to earn third place and played at San Marcos Hill Country Christian on Thursday. Moulton JV Tournament Moulton 24, St. Paul 17 Jenna Stock scored six points as St. Paul opened with a 24-17 loss to host Moulton.

Shiner girls basketball: Siegel, Shiner zip past SH 49-8

The Lady Comanches started the New Year with a small bang in a 49-8 rout of Hallettsville Sacred Heart on Jan. 2 in Hallettsville. Addy Siegel scored 10 points with a pair of triples while Morgan Lenehan and Kailey Boedeker each recorded eight points.

FLATONIA —  Shiner  had a road win in their grasp against Flatonia before the Bulldogs came back in the second half for a 72-67 win.

The St. Paul boys basketball won a non-district game Thursday at San Marcos Hill Country Christian and lost in district Saturday at Bulverde Bracken Christian. BBC 65, St. Paul 42 The Warriors used a 27-16 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from St. Paul 65-42.
