Brahma JV wins Weimar tournament

WEIMAR – The Hallettsville JV Maroon went unscathed in winning the Weimar Jr. Varsity Tournament over the weekend. Hallettsville 39, Fayetteville 36 The Brahmas held off the Lions in the fourth period in the win Saturday. The Brahmas led 20-9 at the half.

'Nettes beat Schulenburg

MOULTON – The Sacred Heart Indianettes defeated Schulenburg, 38-21, for their lone win in the Moulton Tournament. Aleigh Kraatz led the win with 10 points. Lexington 33, SH 28 The Indianettes dropped the opening game to Lexington, 33-28, Thursday.

Apaches 52, Brahmas 48

The Hallettsville Brahmas gave up a 7-point lead in the fourth quarter in a 52-48 loss to Gonzales here Tuesday, December 5. The Brahmas were up 41-34 at the end of three periods before the Apaches came back with a vengeance.

Saints 52, Indians 25

AUSTIN – It was a rough Saturday afternoon for Sacred Heart in its district-opening 52-25 loss to Austin San Juan Diego Catholic. Armando Garza and Max Duarte scored 16 points apiece for the Saints.

'Nettes win dist. opener

AUSTIN – The Sacred Heart Indianettes took out their early season frustrations on Austin San Juan Diego Catholic with a 52-9 victory in the TAPPS District 5, Division IV opener Saturday. The Indianettes led 27-0 at the half. Ava Lackey and Aleigh Kraatz scored 11 and 10 points respectively for SH.

Brahmas beat out for third place

GERONIMO –San Antonio St. Mary’s Hall outscored Hallettsville 22-16 in the fourth quarter to take a 68-60 victory over the Brahmas in the third place game of the Navarro Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Lady Brahmas thrash Palacios to open district

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas’ intensity on defense was too much for the Palacios Sharkettes. Hallettsville (14-3, 0-1) forced 29 Palacios turnovers in a 57-39 victory here in the District 28- AAA opener here Friday night.

Fall sports Academic All-State winners

Yoakum volleyball, football, and cross-country athletes won Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State. For the volleyball team, Macie Blakeney was First Team; Addison Pekar and Madison Gonzales were both Second Team.

Yoakum High School (YHS) Lady Bulldog volleyball players were named to the Texas High School Girls Coaches Association (THSGCA) 3A All-State Team.
