Lady Bulldogs kick off district with win

Jayana Phillips scored 10 points and Deveah Rios added seven points as Yoakum christened the district season with a 40-18 win against Rice Consolidated Friday at home.
The Shiner Sweet Digs 13U competed in the December Dash Tournament Saturday in Buda. St. Paul scored two dozen points and yielded one point in the first quarter of their 2023-24 opener against Faith Lutheran at home Nov. 28 for a 53-28 win. Faith Lutheran outscored St. Paul 7-6 in the second box for a St. Paul 30-8 halftime lead.

The Shiner Lady Comanches basketball team went 4-1 in the Goliad Tournament to place third overall.  Morgan Lenehan and Callie Sevcik were chosen for the All-Tournament team.

The St. Paul Lady Cards have two key ingredients that allows them be very competitive. Stellar defense and plenty of energy/intensity. Those were on display by the Lady Cards as they routed Victoria Faith Academy 55-11 at home on Dec. 5.

Moulton boys basketball: Katz win Katz Klassic Tournament

The Moulton Bobkatz performed well for the home crowd with a 3-1 record and first place in the Katz Klassic Tournament. Moulton and the Shiner Comanches each went 3-1 but Moulton won via head-to-head when they defeated Shiner on Saturday.
