St. Paul girls basketball: St. Paul varsity girls go 1-3 in Fayetteville

The St. Paul varsity girls went 1-3 in the Fayetteville Tournament last week. Fayetteville 47, SP 32 St. Paul came up short to Fayetteville 47-32 to start the tournament. Dallyn Pesek led in scoring with nine points and Brooke Cerny added eight points.

Shiner, St. Paul girls basketball: Lady Comanches bring energy in win over St. Paul

The Shiner Lady Comanches brought plenty of passion to a game against their cross-town cousins, St. Paul. A total of five Lady Comanches scored in double digits, led by 16 points from Addy Siegel, in a 67-23 win for Shiner. Callie Sevcik had a double double with 12 assists and 10 points.

Silas Robinson wins Southland Football Conference award

Yoakum High School 2018 graduate and University of Incarnate Word football graduate student Silas Robinson was one of 12 Cardinal players that received Southland Football All Conference awards. He was named to the First Team All-Conference Offense Offensive Line.

Zaruba commits to Sam Houston State baseball in Huntsville

Yoakum High School 2022 graduate and McClennan Community College baseball pitcher Connor Zaruba has committed to play for the Sam Houston State University Bearkats. In his freshman season (2023), Zaruba appeared in 14 games, started four, went 6-2 with one save, pitched 39.0 innings with 2.

Spikers win all district, academic all-state honors

The Yoakum High School Volleyball Team received 2023 District 25-3A Volleyball Awards. ALL-DISTRICT: Jayana Phillips was named Offensive Players of the Year. Olivia Fojt was named Libero of the Year. Macie Blakeney was selected as Setter of the Year.

Lady Bulldogs win at Cornerstone Tournament, defeats Luling

The Lady Bulldogs went 1-3 at the Cornerstone Christian Tournament Nov. 16-18, and split road games with Wharton and Luling Nov. 20 and 21, respectively. CANYON LAKE 58, YOAKUM 29 The Lady Bulldogs opened the Cornerstone Tournament Nov. 16 with a 58-29 loss to Canyon Lake.

Brahmas defeat S'burg 50-39

The Hallettsville Brahmas pulled away from Schulenburg in the fourth quarter to post a 50-39 victory here Tuesday, November 21. The Brahmas (1-1) led 23-22 at the intermission and increased the lead to 32-28 going into the fourth quarter.

Lady Brahmas bounce back

PORT LAVACA – Following a loss to Shiner on Monday, the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas defeated Port Lavaca Calhoun, 60-32, Tuesday, November 21. The LB (8-1) took control early with a 17-9 first quarter lead behind 8 points by post Macy Herring.

Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches volleyball all-district

The Lady Comanches had several players win All-District awards, highlighted by two special award winners. Senior Rylee Vancura was selected as one of the Offensive Players of the Year and junior Callie Sevcik was named one of the Defensive Players of the Year.
