Shiner girls basketball: Shiner girls win at 3A Hallettsville

Rylee Vancura deposited 11 points to get Shiner past Hallettsville 41-34 on Nov. 20, the last game before the Thanksgiving break. Shiner took an 11-4 advantage in the first quarter and the Lady Brahmas went on an 8-7 run to trim the Lady Comanches’ lead to 18-12 at halftime.

St. Paul girls basketball: Lady Cards defeat Schulenburg in opener 42-31

The St. Paul Lady Cardinals basketball team used a 26-13 second-half rally to win their season opener against Schulenburg Nov. 20 at home. “I thought our girls played really hard and really tough,” Lady Cardinals head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.

SJS opens basketball season

The St. Joseph School (SJS) Tigers Basketball Team opened the season with two home victories. In the first game on Nov. 9 against the Pawnee Indians, Shooter Laqua had 18 points to lead the Tigers.

Sweet Home Flag Football Team goes undefeated during football season

The Sweet Home Cougars had an undefeated flag football season with wins against Meyersville 24-0, Vysehrad 13-6, Ezzell 14-0, and ended the season with a re-match with Ezzell for a 40-7 homecoming victory.

Basketball teams start season with wins

The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to edge Flatonia 51-46 Nov. 14 at home in the season opener. Yoakum took a 12-9 lead after the first frame and Flatonia scored 15 of 27 points in the third box for 24-24 halftime score.

Lady Brahmas seize season opening victory

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas’ season opener was never in doubt. The Lady Brahmas routed the Ganado Maidens, 71-33, here Tuesday, November 14 in the season opener for both teams. Great start, but we got a long way to go,” assistant coach Christina Halata said.

LB rule the roost in S-T tournament

Macy Herring was named the Most Valuable player as the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas went 6-0 to win the Skidmore-Tynan Tournament over the weekend. Kasey Harper and Layten Kolancy were named to the All-Tournament team. The LB defeated Jourdanton, 64-52 in the championship game.

Indians' ball-hawking defense plays big part in 30-0 area win

ROBINSON –The Sacred Heart Indians were not about to look a gift horse in the mouth. The Indians thrived on Sacred Heart Muenster turnovers in a 30-0 TAPPS Division IV area playoff game at Rocket Stadium Friday night.
