Tribe Claims District Title

TEMPLE – Sacred Heart found a way to get things done in its key TAPPS District IV matchup with Temple Central Texas Christian. The teams were tied 14-all at the half prior to the Indians scoring 17 unanswered points in the second half in the 31-14 victory Friday night.

Brahmas Rally to Defeat Yoakum

The Hallettsville-Yoakum tussle was a game for the ages and one you had to see to believe. The Brahmas rallied from deficits of 18-0 and 25-15 to defeat the Bulldogs, 29-25, to grab the third seed in 12-AAA, Division I here Friday night.

St. Paul volleyball: Lady Cardinal spikers fall to FBA Dallas in area round to end season

The Lady Cardinals volleyball team concluded their 2023 season with an appearance in the TAPPS 2A area round. St. Paul fell to Dallas Baptist Academy Oct. 31 in Dallas 25-11, 25-14 and 25-13. Maurin Knesek had one dig; Kristin Cerny provided one dig. Avery Pesek had two digs.

Shiner football: Bishop, Shiner down Kenedy 47-36

Trace Bishop ran for 119 yards and three touchdowns as the Comanches overran Kenedy 47-36 Friday in Kenedy in the regular-season finale. The Comanches finish the regular season at 4-6 and were 3-2 in district to place third. Shiner is scheduled to play Freer at 7 p.m. Friday in Pleasanton.

Shiner cross country: Burns sets personal best at state CC meet

Shiner Lady Comanche Hayleigh Burns capped her high school cross-county career with a No. 78 finish out of 150 runners  at the UIL state meet 2A girls race Saturday in Round Rock. Burns finished in a time of 13 minutes, 26.

St. Paul football: Cards get first district win in OT thriller 29-21 over New Braunfels Christian

With four main offensive backs out injured, St. Paul had to come up with a makeshift offense in its regular-season closer against New Braunfels Christian. The Cardinals used the open week to put things together and the offense shined bright in a 29-21 overtime win against the Wildcats on Friday. St.

Lady Bulldogs sweep Luling in first round in volleyball

The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs Volleyball Team opened the postseason with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-14, 25-10) win against the Luling Lady Eagles in the 3A bi-district round Oct. 30 evening at Flatonia High School. Jayana Phillips and Destiny Rios each had 14 kills to combine for 28 of Yoakum’s 38 kills.
