Yoakum FFA adds shooting sports team

Yoakum FFA hosted an introductory meeting for students interested in participating in the district’s first-ever shooting sports team last Monday at Yoakum Junior High School (YJH).   Former YJH Principal Patrick Frank serves as the team’s certified coach and co-sponsor alongside his wife, Carrie.

Shiner Catholic School basketball, volleyball camps

The SCS athletic program offered a 3-day volleyball and basketball camp to students entering grades 4-8 on July 18-20. The camp focused on developing basic fundamentals for the younger participants while challenging the skills of the more experienced players.

Yoakum athletics: Practices for fall sports start Monday

The Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs volleyball and football teams start workouts next week. Football The Yoakum football team will practice from 4-7 pm starting on Monday. The Bulldogs will play scrimmages at La Vernia (Aug.12) and at La Grange on Aug. 18. Times to be determined later.

Shiner, SP fall sports practices start soon

Football, volleyball and cross-country workouts kick off next Monday for Shiner and Shiner St. Paul. Shiner Football The Comanches will meet at 8 a.m. Monday in the football locker room to issue equipment and make sure all players have all the necessary paperwork.

St Paul coach Nicco Brown was chosen as the TAPPS 2A Female Coach of the Year 2021-22. She helped coach St. Paul athletes to a plenty of state success during the school year.
