Brahmas lose to Rice, Yoakum

The Hallettsville Brahmas let one slip away in a 65- 55 loss to Rice Consolidated in Altair Tuesday, Jan. 20.The Brahmas hit five of their first eight shots from the field in taking a 13-4 lead early in the first quarter before the Raiders came back to whittle the lead to 15-14 at period’s end.

Lady Brahmas extend win streak to four

Hallettsville extended its win streak to four with victories over Rice Consolidated and Yoakum last week.The Lady Brahmas took a 41-31 decision over Yoakum in Yoakum Friday.

Jace Matias scored two dozen points as St. Paul outlasted Victoria Faith Academy 88-80 Jan. 20 at home.St. Paul led 20-13 after one quarter and were ahead 37-35 at halftime after the Cougars went on a 22-17 run in the second box.St.

Shiner boys basketball: Shiner 66, ‘Cats 55

Jarvis Williams booked 18 points, Felix Nieto scored 13 points and Kaden Neskora canned 11 points in Shiner’s 66-55 win at Bloomington on Jan. 20.Shiner led 19-16 at the end of the first quarter and went on a 21-16 run in the second frame for a 40-32 halftime lead.

St. Paul girls basketball: SP girls defeat VFA, Bracken in home district games

St. Paul freshman Ashlin DeSarro had a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while fellow freshman McKinley Jacobs scored 11 points in a 67-16 win over Victoria Faith Academy Jan. 20 at home. Senior Riley Mozisek was also in double digits with 10 points.St.

Moulton boys basketball: After slow start to game, Katz rout Waelder 75-26

Shortly after the start of the Katz Jan. 20 home game with Waelder,   Moulton head coach John Meisetschleager was not satisfied with what he saw.He called a timeout to gather his players and regroup.
