Shiner football: Subvarsity- Shiner 7th defeats Luling, 56-14

The Shiner subvarsity had a clean sweep against Luling last Thursday.JVThe Shiner Junior Varsity team defeated Luling 20-6.Brodie Joslin and Zane Nitsch each ran for one touchdown; Anthony Hernandez had a receiving touchdown, and Colby Nichols threw for one touchdown and had a two-point conversion.

FLATONIA — The Lady Comanches did not play their best in the first two sets of their season opener at Flatonia Sept. 23.

Shiner football: Jones, Shiner downs Luling Eagles, 48-7

Quincy Jones had only seven rushes against Luling but ran for 213 yards and three touchdowns as Shiner (5-0) capped non district with a 48-7 win Friday in Luling.Clayton Fric played a supporting role with 97 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Tyler Harvey added 23 yards and two touchdowns.

St. Paul football: St. Paul shuts out Katy St. John XXIII 44-0 in return home

It was not perfect but still a job well done for the Cardinals.St. Paul’s first home game in four weeks went well in a 44-0 whitewashing of Katy St. John XXIII Friday at Comanche Stadium.The Cardinals offense scored almost at will and got 17 second-quarter points off of turnovers.

Moulton cross country: Kittens place second in 1A-2A girls varsity at Shiner meet

The cross-country runners took part in the Shiner meet Saturday at Green-Dickson Park with the varsity girls finishing high.Varsity Girls (1A-2A 2 miles)The Kittens scored 53 points to place second in the 1A-2A division.Ava Olivarez led Moulton with ninth place in 14 minutes, 22.36 seconds.

Indianettes win District opener

Lady Brahmas undefeated in District

After two spine-tingling matches, the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas got a breather with an 11, 17, 10 sweep Rice Consolidated in a District 25-AAA match here Friday evening.Hallettsville advanced to 4-0 in district and 18-14 overall.
