Shiner football: Shiner ends three years of frustation with 39-7 victory over Hallettsville

Quincy Jones rushed for two touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass as Shiner defeated Hallettsville 39-7 Friday night in Hallettsville to halt a three-game skid.The Comanches, who had not beaten the Brahmas since 2021, led 25-0 at halftime and outscored Hallettsville 14-7 in the second half.

St. Paul football: St. Paul overcomes turnovers to edge KIPP 10-8

St. Paul overcame several turnovers and lots of team speed as they  held off Sunnyside KIPP, 10-8, Saturday night at Comanche Stadium.The Cardinals committed four total turnovers: three lost fumbles and one interception.

Spikers get seventh overall at Schulenburg Tournament

The Yoakum High School Volleyball Team went 3-5, won the silver bracket consolation and finished seventh of 16 teams at the Schulenburg Tournament.THURSDAY’S MATCHESThe Lady Bulldogs won two and lost one in pool play Thursday.

Bulldogs open with 4A powerhouse

The Bulldogs open the regular season with two straight games at home, starting with the Sandcrabs in the 2025 Homecoming game Aug. 29.“They are a perennial powerhouse in 4A,” Yoakum head coach Bo Robinson said. “They have gotten far in the playoffs in recent years.
