Brahmas go to Marion

The Hallettsville Brahmas will scrimmage Marion for the upteenth time in Marion Thursday starting at 6 p.m. with the JV.The Bulldogs are picked second in District 13, Division I.Marion went to the area round of the playoffs last season and had a 5-7 record.

Indian Classic Aug. 30

The Annual Indian Teacher Appreciation Open Golf Classic is Saturday, Aug. 30 at Hallettsville’s Municipal Golf Course.The format is a three-person scramble with one tee time at 9:30 a.m.Everyone is invited to register to golf, make a cash donation or join in fun and fellowship.

Local sports: Tennis Xperience/SWUTL tournament results

San Marcos Tennis Xperience, led by Mike Martinez, collaborated with the Shiner Women’s United Tennis League to host the first ever UTR tennis tournament in Shiner at Green-Dickson Park on July 25th. UTR is a rating system which aims to allow players to find level-based matches.

Columbus wins Jr. League World Title

With the help of two girls from Sacred Heart Catholic School, the Columbus Jr. League AllStars defeated Evergreen Park, Ill. 2-0 Saturday in the title game in the tournament held in Kirkland, Wash.Paelyn Etzler pitched a two-hitter, walked one and struck out 11 in going the distance.
