1995 State Champion Brahmas to be recognized

In the 1995 high school baseball season, the Hallettsville Brahmas accomplished a feat that had never been done before at Hallettsville High School by winning the UIL Conference 3A state baseball championship.

Brahmas improve to 2-3 in District

Hallettsville drubbed Palacios 54-40 for their second District 25-AAA victory against three losses.The Brahmas shot 43.7% from the field and out-rebounded the Sharks 35-16.Hallettsville took a 16-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and the margin grew to 37-26 at the half.

Indians 51, Tribe 32

After not playing for almost a month, the Sacred Heart Indians had to shake off some rust and did so with a 51-32 win over the Bastrop Tribe here Tuesday. Jan. 7Andrew Steffek led the victory with 14 points and Hudson Kutac scored 13 points.

LB snap two-game skid with victory over Palacios

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas snapped a twogame losing streak with a 55-39 victory over Palacios here Friday night.The LB finished the first half of District 25-AAA play with a 4-3 record and visited Rice Consolidated Tuesday.

Shiner softball: Defending 2A state softball champions open practice

The defending 2A state softball champions Lady Comanches recently began pre-season practices for the upcoming season . Shiner is set to scrimmage at Cuero on Jan. 28. First regular-season game is Feb. 11 at home to Nixon-Smiley.

Local sports: Shiner Women’s United Tennis League hosts New Year’s Day Tournament

Shiner Women’s United Tennis League hosted the Deck the Halls with Tennis Balls doubles tournament on New Year’s Day. Twelve teams competed for the top spots. Future tournaments are in the works. For more information, follow this league on instagram @swut.

St. Paul scored 23 points in each of the third and fourth quarters to help score a 68-29 over Victoria Gators at home on Friday.St. Paul and the Gators tied 8-8 after the first quarter and St. Paul grabbed the lead with a 14-7 second-quarter run.St.
