DeWitt Commissioners receives mental health authority update

The DeWitt County Commissioners Court heard a presentation from the Gulf Bend mental health authority services at the July 27 meeting.“Gulf Bend Center is one of 39 local mental health authorities in the state of Texas,” Gulf Bend Chief Operations Officer Nicole Way said.

DeWitt Commissioners approve road closures at July 13 meeting

The DeWitt County Commissioners Court approved a couple of road closures at the July 13 meeting.The first road closure is a temporary closure on Ed Blackwell Rd. This is located just a little south from Yoakum and north of Cuero and will be closed for construction.

The DeWitt County Historical Commission was presented with a 2025 Distinguished Service Award Certificate at the DeWitt County Commissioners Court meeting June 22.

Commissioners: no on fireworks ban

DeWitt County Commissioners voted against an aerial fireworks ban for Independence Day at the June 8 meeting.“We do this every year when the 4th of July holiday rolls around,” DeWitt County Judge Daryl Fowler said.

Community Emergency Response Team

DeWitt County now has applications open for its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.The CERT program is a nationally recognized initiative supported by FEMA that trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills.
