DeWitt County now has applications open for its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.The CERT program is a nationally recognized initiative supported by FEMA that trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills.

DeWitt commissioners approve resolution

DeWitt County Commissioners approved a resolution establishing the week of May 18th as Texas Flood Awareness Week at the May 11th meeting. “The Texas Floodplain Management Association established this in 2016,” DeWitt County Emergency Management Coordinator Billy Jordan Jr. said.
The Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool (TAC RMP) presented a Safety Achievement Award to DeWitt County. DeWitt County commissioners accepted the award. Human Resource Director Ashley Hunt (pictured fifth from left) also was a recipient of the 2025 Making a Difference Award from TAC RMP. DeWitt County received the Safety Achievement Award from the Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool (TAC RMP) at the Commissioners Court meeting April 27th.This is for its commitment to workplace safety.

The DeWitt County Commissioners Court approved several proclamations at the April 13 meeting.The first proclamation established April 26 as Texas Soil and Water Stewardship Week.“Healthy soil and clean water is a benefit to everyone,” DeWitt County Judge Daryl Fowler said.
